The Makery has moved!
The Makery has moved to 106 E. Market, behind the old Hester House (now the Grant County Art Guild Gallery)--between Bullard Street and Big Ditch Park (great parking at the Murray Ryan Visitor Center--a short, scenic walk across the pedestrian bridge!).
With this move, we are focusing more on our creative workshops for adults and our open weaving studio.
(All of Wendi Oliveira's freestyle weaving and hand-crafted books can now be found at
the Grant County Art Guild Gallery, or contact us for a personal viewing appointment.)
This also means that we are changing the way we do things a bit.
We won't be open five days a week like we used to be--but you can still find us!

You can also find us in the studio during any scheduled weekly Public Weaving Session This is a great time not just to come in to weave, but for anything else you'd like to speak to us in person for, such as registering for workshops, purchasing items, or discussing setting up a private workshop or custom product.
The hours for our Public Weaving Sessions (and therefore our "open" times) will generally be:
Wednesday mornings from 10 to noon
Thursday afternoons from 2 to 4
Every first and third Saturday morning from 10 to noon
(Please call 575-590-1263 ahead of time to be sure we will be there when you arrive!)
We'll also be available during Kids' Weaving on Thursdays
from noon to 1:30 (during summer school vacation) or 4 to 5:30 (during the rest of the year).
You are welcome to stop by anytime during those hours, beginning in July
--or feel free to contact us to schedule another time to meet!
Of course, life happens and sometimes we'll need to be closed during otherwise regularly scheduled hours.
We keep our Calendar up-to-date, so that is always the best way to be sure that you'll find us!

We have creative workshops for adults in a variety of areas, including bookbinding, freestyle and other weaving, other fiber arts, paper arts, and surface design. We'll be adding new classes regularly, so keep checking back!

Several people have asked about ordering our hand-crafted items online. We've listened! Our brand new online shop is now live.
For now, we have our Traveler's Notebook inserts in our online store, but soon we will begin to place many of our other one-of-a-kind books, handwoven items, and other special things available, as well. Be sure to check back to see what we have in store!

- See a workshop you’d like to take, but the timing doesn’t work for you? Find some friends (two or more—up to 6 to 9 total, depending on the workshop) to take it with you and we can arrange to teach any workshop in our catalog at a time convenient for you.
- Browse our full Workshop Catalog here for a listing of our offerings. Then contact us to set up a workshop time. It’s that simple.
- This is a great option to participate in a more customized class, to arrange your own private girls’ night out, to have a fun family activity, or to create a team-building experience for your workplace.
- If you’d like (and for an additional fee), we can also build in time in our workshop space for additional activities that you want to plan, making this the perfect option for your private parties (birthday parties, wedding showers, baby showers, and such). Some workshop topics can even be scaled up and done in the place of your choosing—family reunion, anyone?
